Featuring our completely rewritten AI engine, MathRider 7.2 will help your kids master their math facts faster and more reliably than ever before!
Over the past few months we have been hard at work, completely rewriting the way MathRider measures player performance, detects mastery and what questions it asks during rides. We also implemented a new automatic difficulty adjustment, so we can make mastery less stringent for anyone who is struggling – if needed. Plus, many, many other improvements, animations and bug fixes.
Free for existing users
All our current paid users of MathRider get this update for free, as usual. Simply head over to the MathRider download page indicated in the release announcement email and install the new version on your Windows or MacOS computer.

Enhancements
Question Generation and Scoring

New AI version of question challenge scoring. The new version is far more accurate in detecting mastery and weaknesses. It is also able to automatically adjust challenge scoring to be less stringent if needed.
New AI version of question selection for quest rides. The introduction of questions is now far more nuanced and promotes remembering of questions based on better targeted repetition and reduced overload.
Ensure all initial question history records have an estimated challenge score, rather than the old default value for unknown challenge level.
Riding

All questions that were improved upon during the ride are further emphasized with a fireworks animation.
The colors in the post riding display bars now represent the exact challenge score of the question and are identical to the ones shown in the Statistics screen. Any changes in challenge score is flashed and animated.
Add text to each bar in the post-riding screen that shows the actual math question that was asked. Have them auto-size and word wrap depending on the bar’s width and stop displaying when the bar width is too narrow.
Make audio of horse hoof sounds, obstacle scoring and post-riding fireworks explosions positional (stereo effect).

Add in fully updated sparkle effects for bonus scores.
Refined the logic to determine how many crossbars an obstacle has based on the question’s challenge score.
Accidentally pressing enter without an answer is now simply ignored and no longer counted as an invalid answer attempt.
Disabled bonus scores for time trial, since they don’t really make sense.
Updated the scoring effects for the second fairy realm music and for master level quest. Also shortened the starting delay of the scoring effects for the first desert realm music. Reduced volume levels for first elven music scoring effects (they were a little too loud).
Statistics screen

Added ability to animate the progress towards mastery a user has made via the new View Progress button.
Refined colors for indicating the challenge score of each individual question.
Adjusted the y-axis scale for the answer times chart for individual questions in the statistics screen. It will now no longer cut off at a maximum of 10 seconds.
Practice Runs
Adjust question generation for practice runs to be purely random, but still with reduced likelihood for zero-based questions.
Reduce the max number of questions from 999 to 250 (because the post riding bars get ridiculous beyond this).
Ensure practical limits for practice runs for both time and number of questions. Handle illegal character input into number fields and revert back to previous values in that case.
General

Added Tech Support menu button and dialog to the Rider Maintenance screen.
Added operation to tooltip for reward gems. Ensure flowers only show mastery animation when it is 100% mastered (no rounding). Ensured gems are rendered in the correct order on the screen based on which ones are in front and which ones are in the back.
New implementation of Mastery Percentage calculation that shows more accurately how close a player is to mastering an operation.
Ensure next quest level only becomes available when the previous one has actually been 100% mastered.
Bug Fixes
Fixed bug in check whether to unlock new music or not.
Fixed bug where a failed question would be timed as having taken ten seconds or longer.
Fixed bug in time trial that could result in the player succeeding in their Master level quest without having answered all questions correctly and in time.
Fixed issue in question generation that made it possible for an easy question to be repeated more than once.
Fixed a bug where the check if a quest had already been mastered previously failed to find previously mastered records, which could result in additional music unlocks that should occur only later on in the game.
Ensure the Music Unlocked dialog always dims the screen and does not result in potentially corrupting the screen navigation history.
Ensure that the internal question count in ride remains correct when two questions are swapped while the player is riding.
Fixed problem when user hits escape and quits ride while a question correction is playing. This resulted in the riding music continuing on the main screen.
