Here it is! The latest version of MathRider, hot off the press! Math facts practice has just become smarter, friendlier, prettier and more efficient than ever before…
We’ve done a lot of analysing, enhancing, bug fixing and optimising again. Quite a few of these changes are directly based on feedback we have received from our users. So if you have any feedback or suggestions for us, please let us know any time via our contact forms.
Enhancements
Smarter and Selectable Horse Speed Modes
Players can now choose how readily the horse speeds or and slows down based on how quickly they answer math questions. This is to make the game less stressful for kids who tend to feel anxious, based on direct feedback we got from parents and teachers.
The selection is between Eager, Moderate and Gentle speed control modes, as follows:
Eager
Eager means the horse is very keen to speed up and will do so very noticeably when questions are answered quickly. This is the original speed management used in all previous versions of MathRider.

Moderate
Moderate mode is in-between Eager and Gentle. It slows the horse down much more readily than Eager mode, and increases speed at a significantly lower rate, too. This makes for more relaxed riding while not impacting the detection of mastery or the ability to answer questions quickly and accurately.

Gentle
In Gentle mode the horse takes a lot longer to start cantering and galloping, and is a lot quicker to slow down when the next obstacle may get too close to the horse and rider. It also hides the timer display in regular rides. The timer still gets displayed during the final master quest, since that is a race against time. The time limit is set to be much more generous that Eager and Moderate though.

Master Quest (Race Against Time) Improvements
- The horse now starts at cantering speed in the Master quest. This change allows ultra-fast answers to be followed immediately by the next question, without unnecessary delays. Previously, the game delayed showing the next question if the first question was answered too quickly, to ensure enough space for the horse to jump between obstacles. The impact of that was that very fast players would have less time to actually answer all their questions.
- Reworked the way the time allowance for the Master quest is calculated to make it not too overly challenging, no matter how quickly or slowly players tend to answer their questions. The game now also adjusts this further based on the riding speed mode selected (Eager, Moderate, Gentle).
- The game now increases the time allowance further in the Master quest after a number of successive failed attempts to reward persistence. The time allowance increase is also slightly more generous in the new moderate and gentle riding speed modes respectively.
Other Gameplay Improvements
- If a player is close to full mastery (above 95%) but hasn’t improved over their last 20 rides, the game will now slightly reduce the difficulty. This helps prevent frustration in rare cases where mastery progress may have stalled due to our adaptive statistical calculation thresholds.
- Question generation for each ride has been improved so that new questions are introduced less readily when there are existing questions that still require more practice. It all depends on the exact number and challenge level of the existing questions.
- Added a new music track to the desert realm that is much more in theme with the visuals.
- Replaced the scoring effects for one of the elven realm music tracks with ones that better match the style of the music.
- Replaced the scoring effects in the Master quest to fit the theme and music better.
Visual Enhancements

- Visual enhancements to all riding environments – better visual effects across all riding realms and new more immersive graphics, especially in desert and fairy realms.
- Reworked the final mastery fireworks display to be way more dazzling than previously.
- Improved question bonus (answering correctly multiple times in a row) visual effects.
- Improve positioning and animation of hoof impacts when trotting, cantering, galloping and jumping.

Game Statistics Sharing to Help MathRider Better
We are committed to keep improving MathRider to the best of our abilities. The more feedback we receive, the better we can do this.
For this reason we added a feature allowing users to opt in to anonymously share game statistics with us, allowing us to get a much wider range of data to analyze how MathRider is being used – and how effective it is.
By default, statistics sharing is turned off.
You can turn statistics sharing on and off at any time in the Global Game Options dialog. You can access this dialog via the “global options” menu button in the Rider Maintenance screen (before riders log in, as this is a global game setting that applies to all rider profiles):

This will give enable us to improve the core of MathRider more accurately for everybody.
The feature is completely optional and nothing is send to our server that we can use to identify anyone. More details here.
Performance
We worked hard on the internals of the game, making it much more efficient to load and run:
- Improved support for ultra-wide monitors (up to 4:1) for the game heads-up-display (HUD).
- Significant performance improvements, improving game performance during riding by up to 30%.
- Reduced loading time and memory footprint of the game by more than 50%.
- Reimplemented progress map animation, so it runs smoothly on lower end computers.
- Implemented a fireworks alternative for low end computers.
Bug Fixes
Yes, we also fixed a number of pesky bugs. Here are the main ones:
- The time bonus points now get correctly added to the player’s quest points and thereby speed up quest completion.
- Prevent the game from potentially locking itself when the user hits pause right at the beginning of the very first ride, before the First Riding Hint dialog box has finished animating.
- Ensure fireworks do play at all times during the final mastery ride when all questions have been answered in time.
- Changing the language in Edit Rider dialog now correctly enables the Save button.
Security Update
MathRider is built on the Unity framework. In early October 2025, Unity announced and provided a patch against a vulnerability affecting all games built with previous versions of Unity.
This new version of MathRider uses the updated, fully patched Unity framework.

How Do I Tell If I’m Using version 7.4?
You can easily tell from within MathRider. The game shows the version number in the top left of the Rider Menu screen as well as the main screen.
